James L. Craig, III, President
Jim joined Hoy in January 1974 as Project Manager and then was named
President in 1996. He has over 25 years of experience in the industry,
working as Field Engineer, Superintendent and General Superintendent/Office
Manager. As president, Jim is responsible for Hoys project
management, company estimating, marketing and field administration.
He serves or has served on the Boards of The Tidewater Builders
& Contractors Exchange (serving as President in 1994) and Associated
General Contractors of Tidewater.
A 1979 graduate of University of Richmond, Jim is also actively
involved in his community. He is past president of the Norfolk Cosmopolitan
Club and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of First Virginia
Bank, Diabetes Institute Foundation and the Norfolk Cosmopolitan
Club Foundation.
Jeff W. Knowles, Vice President
Jeff joined Hoy in January 1988 as Project Manager and then became
Vice President in 1996. Prior to joining Hoy, he served for 5 years
as a Project Manager for a major Virginia Beach architectural firm.
As a result, Jeff is highly experienced in project design, as well
as the management of a variety of commercial, institutional and
residential projects. A licensed architect, Jeff is an active member
of the Tidewater chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
A 1982 graduate of Virginia Tech, Jeff is also active in the local
community and is a board member and Past President of DArt
Center.
Adam W. Ritt, Vice President
Adam joined Hoy in 1992 as Project manager and was promoted to Vice
President in 1996. Prior to his work with Hoy, Adam was a construction
manager for a national real estate development firms Northern
Virginias operation and has held positions as Project Engineer,
Office Engineer and Project Coordinator on projects ranging from
$60 to $125 million.
A 1985 graduate of Purdue University, Adam remains extremely active
in his community, serving on the Boards of The Virginia Beach Exchange
Club (serving as President in 2000) and The Boys & Girls Club
of South Hampton Roads. Since 1995, he has coached football and
baseball for the Association of Courthouse Recreation.
Robert D. Melancon, CPA
Rob joined Hoy in January 1992 as Secretary/Treasurer. Prior to
his experience with Hoy, Rob specialized in construction and real
estate auditing, accounting and tax services at Frederick B. Hill
& Company from June 1984 to December 1991. He is responsible
for all financial aspects of Hoy.
A 1984 graduate of Virginia Tech, Rob stays active in his community
by serving on the Executive Board of Junior Achievement of Greater
Hampton Roads and serving The United Way in various capacities.
Donny J. Matthews
Donny has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry
with the majority of them spent at Hoy. Donny is a Journeyman Carpenter
and was a Job Superintendent for over 20 years. He has served as
General Superintendent for Hoy since 1985 and was named Assistant
Vice President in 1987. He is highly experienced in many types of
construction including commercial buildings, churches, residents
and government buildings.
Donny is committed to his community and is an active member of
his church, having served as Chairman of the Deacons, Chairman of
the Finance Committee, Sunday School Teacher and various other committees.
